TSP Launched!

So I've been completely MIA.  I've been busy getting The {something} Project launched.  If you haven't checked it out you should! I'm so proud of it and so thankful for everyone who is helping me.

For now I am taking a break from Pretty in Pink. I want to focus on TSP and make it what I know it can be.  I'm not saying goodbye forever but it's possible that is what it will come to.

If you need your daily fix then you really should come over to TSP and see what we're all about.

Until later....

The {something} Project - Announced!

So I am finally ready to announce my new venture I've mentioned a few times.  I am starting a new website/blog and it's called The {something} Project! I am extremely excited to finally share this news with you! It's launching in early August but you can already follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest

The {something} Project is a new website {in the form of a blog, for now} for everyday, witty, funny, interesting girls. There will literally be a little bit of everything. I have asked about 7 girls to do this with me so you will get expertise from everywhere not to mention so many different voices.  Everyone will be extremely real with you but mostly we want to make you laugh.

Stay tuned for a sneak peek at some articles I've been working on. Until then follow us on all our social media to get a peek into what TSP is going to be all about.   I promise you won't want to miss this!

Bikini Shopping :: Poor Girl

I've been on the search for a new bikini this year. Two years ago I bought about 3 or 4 so I took a break last year. I'm on the hunt again and my timeline is to have them by the 4th of July. Or at the very least our annual Lake of the Ozarks trip.

Shopping for a bikini to me is terrifying. A. it makes me want to drop 7 pounds, so juice cleanse this week might be a must. B. I'm not sexy. There's nothing sexy about me. Have you ever looked at bikini's on Victoria's Secret? No I don't want 4 inches of padding and an underwire. I don't even want that in my bra's so I sure as hell don't want that in my bikini. Also, how is a normal girl supposed to pick a swim suit with some hot victoria's secret model in them? I'm sure as hell not going to look like that.  I even usually stay away from triangle tops and stick to my bandeau's. It's possible I branch out. But let's be real... prob not. This is the one I am dying for...

Hipanema :: $130 for set

Unfortunately it's pretty far out of my price range so I will be stalking it online to try to get it on sale. If you've never heard of Hipanema then check it out. It's a hippie girls dream.

Here's what I've narrowed down to. Again, I really wish I could just look at Vicky's Secret bikini's not on these hotel models that make me want to throw up the McDonald's chicken nuggets and soft serve I had for dinner...

1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5 :: 6

I love mixing and matching bikini's. You will rarely see me in a total matching suit. Coral top print bottoms? Yep. Print top black bottoms? Yep.

I think this post has motivated me more to go work out than to spend money...

What I've Been Up To.... Part 2

I haven't been keeping up with these as much as I'd like... however, a flight delay at the airport is always a good time to catch up right? {3 hours and counting....}

I may have mentioned but Matt Costa is one of my favorite artists of all time. I love his melodies and his lyrics, really just everything about his music is amazing to me. I have seen him in concert before at House of Blues in Dallas. It was everything I wanted it to be. However, it was nothing like this last time was. First, let me explain that he plays in the small bar area room called The Foundation Room at House of Blues which holds a lot less people.  At one point he actually got off stage and sang in the middle of the crowd. I considered posting this video, however, mostly all you can hear is me screaming and singing.... soo.... that idea was quickly vetoed. I chose instead to post a video where you can only minimally hear me.  I realized recently that I am an obnoxious concert goer.... but I don't care. I sing every word I know and not quietly. Sorry I'm not sorry.

One of my favorite songs of all time is Sweet Rose. Is it because Rose just happens to be my middle name? Maybe that's where it started but it turned into something more. It speaks to me... I literally feel like Matt is singing this song to me. I'd be heartbroken to find out that's not true...

After the concert I somehow convinced my friends to wait around outside since the drummer {who during Matt only songs would stand out in the crowd near us} told us that he was going to come outside. We waiting for about 20 minutes until someone finally told us that he was meeting people inside. So we went back inside and the greatest moment of my life happened. I met Matt Costa. He's so adorable and sweet. When it was my turn I was shaking and probably near tears. {I'd be lying if I told you I didn't kind of cry when this was all over... but also, I had been steadily drinking all day so cut me a little slack...}  I told him that he had been my favorite musician for about 6 years now. He literally gave me a confused look and said "really?". Yes. This is not a lie. I may have changed a lot in the last 6 years but literally the one thing that has stayed the same is my love of Matt Costa.

Matt Costa with my friend Amanda (aka Moo). Really annoyed her pic with Matt is cuter than mine...
I think he's so happy because he literally just met his biggest fan...
True. Love.
While Matt was in the middle of the crowd playing.
Enjoy. Matt Costa playing Astair which was one of the first songs I ever heard of his and started this obsession....

What I've Been up To.... Part 1

Things are really starting to get going lately with my new venture. I find myself consumed by it when I'm not working.  Besides that I've still been extra busy the last few months.  Here are a few things you missed that I would consider to be my favorite moments {this is part 1...}

First up on my US travel was Denver for my sisters baby shower. If you remember here she's having twins!!  {oops that was only 2 posts ago... and over a month. Sorry about that...}.

Curling Kelly's hair for the big day, in the bathroom 5 minutes before guests arrived.

Chatting with mimosa in hand {obviously...}

My sister Carla.  Don't judge us... we are making fun of the skinny arm pose. {which really gives you a skinnier arm turns out...}
The Meetz girls together. We didn't get a perfect picture but got 2 decent ones...

Whoops... Smiles but Carla's eyes are closed.
Couldn't resist for some reason another make fun of the skinny arm pose...
The fun in Denver didn't stop there. The Meetz girls took Kelly's loot back to her house and then went to a local bar to watch Wichita State unfortunately lose in the Final 4. We lazily hung out, had dinner, laughed as we always do together, made fun of each other as we always do, and went back to our hotel room and watched Silver Linings Playbook {fist pumping JL and BC's weird relationship}.

The next day Carla and my mom left early and I had the whole day to roam around Denver with Kelly. We had Mexican food {because even far away from Dallas I can't be without it for too long}, shopped {same answer?}, and then went to my name-sakes museum; The Molly Brown House.  If you remember on Titanic, the character Kathy Bates played? Loud? Bossy? Sarcastic? Yep... I was named after her. She was a famous Denver socialite who was a huge activist for women's rights {she was obviously really badass, and obviously my parents had higher hopes for me}.  Anyway, we went on a tour of her house since I haven't done it since we lived in Denver and I was little.

Obviously took the obligatory selfies outside her house... {no pictures allowed inside} Prepare yourself. I'm sure people watching were creeped out...

How do you pose alone? Like this...

Awkward lady like?

Can you see me?

When I feel awkward alone sometimes I do this...

Different angle?
And I'll put you out of my selfie misery... I bet the awkwardness of it all made you sweat from uncomfortableness huh?

Shoe Obsession

I have put myself on a spending lock down. Not freeze, because the word freeze doesn't scare me. Lock down, seems way more serious.  When you do what I do you have amazing things in front of you all day that are screaming to be bought. So I spend way more then I should on clothes, shoes, jeans {yes whole separate category}, bags, etc etc.  So when I see something and drift into "well that price isn't bad..." I immediately snap back and move on to something else. The WORST thing right now is shoes.

ALL I WANNA DO IS BUY SHOES!!!!  It's so hard not to, but I've done it so far.  So just in case you felt like you wanted to buy me something, I'm a 6 1/2 or 7 and here are the shoes I can't stop looking at...

Zara :: $99 :: AMAZINGNESS
I look at them every night when I get home from work and have somehow talked myself into not driving to the Galleria to see if I can try them on. I have thought of 95 outfits to wear with these. They are my shoe heaven... Amazing in every single way possible. I. Die. For. These. Shoes.

Travel :: Everywhere.....

I've been MIA.  And I'm not going to lie it's going to get ten times worse.  I'm sitting at the airport right now. {ok I was sitting at the airport but I'm not now...} My second trip in a month and a half of basically non-stop travel.  Last weekend I was in Austin visiting one of my very best friends to celebrate her 27th birthday.  I returned Sunday evening and left Friday morning at 4:30 am {from my apartment} to get on a plane to go to Denver for my sisters baby shower {it's twins!!}.

Try to keep up with the rest... I return today, then head for the airport again on Wednesday to head to Atlanta.  From Atlanta {after being there until Sunday} I will head to some combination of the following; South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and/or Kentucky.  I will return on April 20th {Saturday}, then getting back on a plane Monday morning to head to L.A. until that Wednesday.  From there I get a week in a half break from the travel but then get on a plane again the 3rd of May to go visit my brother in D.C. to then get on a train to head to New York for work until that Wednesday.  Did you get all of that? Yeah... it's a little intense, but luckily a good majority is fun, family, and friends so I think I will live through it... hopefully.  Not to mention the fact that I'm one of those weirdo's that absolutely LOVES their job.

Airports are my new home
Long story short I'm busy.  I am also taking a short break from the blog to start a new venture.  Don't worry, not a real break. You'll still get as many posts as I can muster.  The new venture will have to wait to be announced but it's something I'm really excited about and I think you will be too.

Until next time.

Hamster Box Redo :: Painting

I finally did it.  I've been saying for years that I was going to paint a picture to put above my fireplace.  You remember this post, and that sad sad fireplace.  Well, I FINALLY did something about it.  I have to say painting your own picture is extremely rewarding whether it comes out good or not.  As I was going I couldn't help but smile knowing that no matter what, I was hanging something that I did myself.  Here was my inspiration.  No it didn't come out quite like it but I'm still proud of myself.  So Sunday afternoon after my parents waved good-bye and drove back to Wichita I set up shop at my dining room table and 3 1/2 hours later the magic was done!

Oh that's not intimidating at all....

Getting my paints ready...

Here we go! That dark purple heart? That is my least favorite part. Don't worry... it turns into a dinosaur later.

Filling in the spaces.  There's that dinosaur.  Other things people found I sent this to {mostly my family... thanks family} cow utters, a pig back side with a pokey tail, scotty dog, and the most important and reason why I almost just through it away...

Can you see it?

Turn it on the side.  Did the boobs and pregnant belly disappear?

Is it gone upside down? Well oh well...

Well there it is folks.  My poor fireplace is getting there!  I still think a mantel and some picture collages are in order.  I will ask my land lord if he hates the idea of me doing some physical labor.

Next up I am REALLY going to recover those dining room chairs.  Fabric has been bought so the procrastination can't last that much longer right?

Madeline Chadwick :: Obsession Continues...

I finally did it.  Yes it may be close to a year after my first post about her bags here but I finally pulled the trigger.  I have been searching for a new cross body and have come close several times until I woke one morning to an email saying that MADELINE CHADWICK commented on a post of mine.  Yes, THE MADELINE CHADWICK. I sat straight up in bed and of course a day that starts off like that is a great one.  I informed her that I was still in love but when I start mulling over what color of something to buy it literally can last 3 years until I finally do it. So I told her what colors I was thinking about and she informed me that she thought I should get Sand because it would be the most classic for everyday wear or a night out.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!!! It's weird how in tune we are with each other.... So I did it. I purchased this beauty last night and I can't wait for it to be in my hands.

I mentally decided that when I love it as much as I know I will, I may go back for a pop of color.  And then of course there's this little beauty that would be an investment but TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Cooking 101 :: Indian

I have decided I want to learn how to cook better.  The problem, as I told my mom tonight, is that I don't really like following the recipe. She laughed and as she's said many times in the last few years "Well, that may be another genetic problem...".  Which I should have realized.  I've been asking her for years for her spaghetti sauce recipe which came from her mom, which is the best spaghetti sauce on the planet.  Everytime I ask she says "well you'll just have to watch and take notes next Christmas... I have no idea what the recipe is."  Alas, I am left with 5 Tupperware containers full in my freezer but still no idea how to make it.  Maybe next year...

So when I cook I decide what I want to do and that's it.  I make it up and if it's good, GREAT, if it's not... well better luck next time.  So last night I made chicken tikka masala.  Which is supposed to look like this....

No mine was not pretty like that but it did taste pretty good. So I am going to start a new series called Cooking 101.  This is not for a foodie {well maybe only to laugh at}, this is for other girls like me who are trying to learn how to cook but for whatever reason still aren't fantastic. It's not going to be pretty folks...

The Ingredients... or some at least. And that ginger was my snack.... so....

Don't be deceived... I am only cooking for myself. Clearly I need to learn how to do that in my prep work. Now I realize the chances of any of you using this recipe are slim. But I'm going to write the blog post like you are anyway... humor me.

I used 1 green and 1 red bell pepper, julienne cut carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, and green cabbage but you can pretty much use whatever you want.  I have a love affair with cooked veggies so I always use more than I should.  Most real chicken tikka masala's I found didn't even have veggies in them... snooze... so make it your own.

I use jasmine rice mostly because I like it more than normal rice but also because while you're cooking it it makes your house smell incredible {yes, like jasmine}.

Be warned this is no minute rice. It takes in total 30 minutes to cook so you might want to start it first no matter what you are adding to it. It's worth it!

I kind of forgot to take pictures in between steps here.  Just sauté all of the veggies until al dente, cook the chicken in a separate pan and then dump the veggies, chicken and tikka masala sauce in the sauté pan.  After you mix it up add some jasmine rice to your plate or bowl and then add the veggies and chicken on top of it.

Success! It was actually pretty good.  I'm not going to tell you what I did tonight to make it even better {add more sauce and a dash of almond milk} I feel like most foodies will judge me for it....

This was the fail of the night.  I was using a spatula as a flyswatter....

Luckily that was supposed to be tonights leftovers so no I didn't go hungry. Thanks for your sympathy.

Molly

Gilt City :: Warehouse Sale!

I have spoken to a few people recently who don't know what Gilt is. I'm sure my jaw hits the floor... it's the best thing in flash sales that's ever happened.

On top of that Gilt City caters closer to home. If you're actually going to be in town tomorrow it's not too late to buy a ticket to the Warehouse Sale.  I'm going tonight to preview/buy all the best things but whatevers left you should go check out tomorrow! You can buy shoes, clothes, handbags, etc etc etc at up to 90% off retail... yes I said it... 90%.  If that didn't blow your mind then I don't know what would... mind. blown.

You don't have to be in Dallas either.  If you have a Gilt City you probably have a Warehouse Sale happening near you too. Don't miss out.

Hopefully the sale doesn't disappoint but I doubt it will.

Valentine's Day... Or Independence Day?

Well the day is upon us. Tomorrow is the day that single people hate and people in relationships love.  I made the mistake of saying "I hate Valentine's Day" this weekend. It's partly true. I do hate it, of course I hate it. I'm single and don't plan on a boy sending me flowers or anything else tomorrow. That's why girls hate Valentine's Day, because they've been let down by it over and over again.

I hope to one day not be terrified of tomorrow.  Terrified to already be aware that I may cry at something really dumb, or get unnecessarily mad at the girl next to me who will inevitably get at least 3 sets of flowers.  Someday I will love Valentine's Day, just not this year.

Instead this is what I plan to print out and put on my desk as a reminder all day...

So, I give you this post not to depress you but for all of the girls, like me, who will be alone tomorrow night with a bottle of wine. Just remember, your coworker may be getting flowers from her boyfriend, but that does not mean she's happy in life. At least we are single and don't have to set ourselves up for something we know will let us down.  If anything comes out of tomorrow it will be unexpected and exciting.

I may not break my 5 years of NO flowers streak tomorrow but at least I know what I'm in for.

Molly

Beats to Jam to :: Sauce

I went to the G. Love & the Special Sauce concert Thursday night at the Granada Theater in Dallas.  He's always been one of my favorites. I have a picture with him from a couple summers back when he opened for Jack Johnson but... alas I have no clue where it went. Anyway, the concert, as all of his are, was amazing! If you ever get the chance he puts on a great show that is seriously fun for the whole crowd whether you've heard of him or not.

So, I went with someone who I know but not extremely well.  While at the concert I realized that I have very strong opinions about things. Some of you who know me well are probably laughing or rolling your eyes but I don't know if it was the music or getting smells of a certain something every once in a while but the whole experience proved to be an enlightening one for me.

So I know what I like, and I know what I don't like. If I say "I don't care" it's because I honestly don't care, and when I don't care it's going to be really hard to get me to make the decision.  I can't even pinpoint what I have strong opinions about but every once in a while a conversation would come up that I didn't even realize I felt so strongly about.

In an email chain about that baby that gets woken up by his "favorite song" I didn't realize my response was so strong. My friend wrote back "I didn't realize you had so much hostility toward Gangnam style Molly..". I knew I hated that song but you're right... hostility is probably the right word.  Who has hostility toward a song? Someone with very strong opinions about very weird things.

So, yes this is the most random post you may ever read but I leave you with G. Love & the Special Sauce live... tell me you don't want to see him!

If you can't handle the 10 minute video I understand.  I have to admit his performance of this song was 10 times more energetic and fun Thursday night.  Either way you have to admit he's insanely talented {and insanely attractive... am I alone there?}.  Swear and Shake opened for him and are now also on my Spotify so check them out too.

While the rest of Dallas grills outside with country playing, G. Love is my go to for summer outdoor drinking activities. I have several other concerts lined up for this Spring so check back for some more enlightening experiences....

Molly

20 Times a Lady :: Event/Contest

Well I have finally recovered from my weekend in Nashville with 11 of the best friends a girl could ask for.  More on it later but for now I have exciting news! I will be hosting an event on February 12th called 20 Times a Lady at Castle Nail Salon in Mockingbird Station!  Tickets sold out literally 5 minutes after they announced it... I was floored... and so excited!

Mostly I'm excited because all proceeds go towards the Genesis Women's Shelter which is close to my heart. I have had the pleasure of listening to Jan Edgar Langbein, the Executive Director of the organization, speak at a Junior League meeting. This may sound weird but she stole my heart. She made everyone laugh so hard they were crying at some points and then she just flat out had everyone crying at another. She held the attention of the room in the palm of her hand and made me realize I wanted to help... and be EXACTLY LIKE HER when I finally grow up.

I know I said it was sold out BUT I have a free ticket for YOU.  It's for a mani and a pedi, paired with some bubbly and is 2 days before Valentines Day so perfect timing right?!

  Yes, you may have guessed I am basically boycotting Valentine's Day this year.  I have offered to babysit my sisters dog Potter while they are in Colorado in the mountains for the weekend. Honestly... I can't think of a better fluffy man to spend Valentines Day with.  At least my nails will be pretty for Potter...

All you have to do to win the free ticket to next weeks shindig is either "LIKE" Pretty in Pink Style on Facebook and/or "FOLLOW" me on Twitter. THAT'S it! You get more entries for doing both and extra {2 more entries} for sharing my page or event on Facebook or Twitter. It's that easy! Contest ends this Sunday February 10th at 6pm.  I promise it will be a great time but more importantly it's about 24 girls, mani's, pedi's, and bubbly... so, who needs an excuse?

Molly

Weekend Travel :: Sequins Galore...

I am off to Nashville this weekend with 11 of my closest friends! My pledge class has started a tradition of picking a fun place and all going over a long weekend.  This is the 2nd year and I couldn't be happier we have kept to it up so far!  There is no way it won't be fun... even if we didn't leave the condo's it would be a blast, no doubt.

There will be no packing post... it was a disaster I don't really want to talk about. Somehow I fit 6 pairs of pants, 5 blazers/jackets, 9 shirts, pajamas, and 2 pairs of ankle boots in my bag. Will I have anything that goes together? Considering that 2 of the 6 pairs of pants are snake print, 2 are leather/coated, and I'm wearing a pink/turquoise print one right now... Oh and most of my tops and blazers have some kind of sequins on them.... I mean... your guess is as good as mine. This could be a fashion disaster....

While on a date {a few weeks ago} the guy actually said to me "I mean, New Years Eve is just an excuse for girls to wear sequins... no one wears sequins outside of that night." I gently told him that was false... I wore an entire sequin shirt to work last week... and wear sequin booties at least twice a week... to work.  Suffice it to say it didn't work out...

So in light of my ridiculous suitcase and sequins for daytime I leave you with this quote....

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend like I will! I will try to snap some pictures of my outfit attempts and hopeful successes!

xoxo,
Molly

Resolutions :: Music Festivals

My next resolution is slightly more creative then the last.  I really love music. It's one of those things that I need on a daily basis. It helps me get through bad and sad times and helps make happy times that much better. People say that smells are the biggest connection to memory and although that may be true nothing brings me back to the moment like a song.

I have been saying I want to go to all of these concerts and music fests and never end up doing it.  Something comes up, or I have no one that wants to go with me to the weird indie concert on a Tuesday night. Well, thats done.  On my resolution list {should I be calling this a bucket list for 2013? I think I'm missing the point of a resolution....} is going to 2 of the following three music festivals this year. Jazz Fest in New Orleans, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and Austin City Limits in... well duh Austin.

Jazz Fest is the only line up announced so I'm wishing to hear these songs at one or more of the festivals...

*Maroon 5 :: Sunday Morning {side note for judgers... I already know Maroon 5 is playing at Jazz Fest and again you can judge all you want but I will forever love them. I'm hopeful for some songs from "Songs About Jane"}

Golden Globes :: Best Dressed 2013

It's that time again. Award season is upon us!! Whether you watch the Golden Globes tonight or not you will likely be talking about it tomorrow.  I'm ready for it to start, Thai takeout ordered, candles lit, sweat pants on.  I think this year is going to be really contraversial when it comes to best dressed {let the drama begin...}.  Here are my picks... I have a feeling only about 35% of the people reading this will agree but oh well.

Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
 This is by far my favorite. The neckline is killer and amazing. I love that the rest is simple so that the neckline really is center stage. Hair and makeup is perfect too. You may not agree with me but I think this is completely to die for!

Isla Fisher in Reem Acra
This one I was slightly on the fence with but to be perfectly honest I wasn't thrilled with many dresses.  Bored with most of them as I feel as if I've seen them 95 different times. I choose Isla because she look gorgeous and she choose something slightly different while still being completely classic.  I couldn't find a picture of her smiling which is unfortunate because she would be a million times prettier in these if she did!

Michelle Dockery in Alexander Vauthier
Ok so I'm going to be honest. I had to google who Michelle Dockery was.  She stars in Downtown Abbey which is a show my mom has been trying to get me and my sisters to watch since she started.  She is as obsessed with it as I am with Revenge and Pretty Little Liars.  Well this might be the final kicker for me to watch.  This dress is so unique and gorgeous I almost want it as my wedding dress {oh I need someone to propose to me first? Oh, I need a boyfriend for that? Who knew...}.

Last but not least...

You're welcome...

Now go to sleep thinking about Bradley Cooper sleeping next to you. Sweet dreams.

Who were your favorites and least favorites?

Molly
