:: Love ::

 Being home and rummaging through old family pictures! These 2 are some of my favorites! I mean.... my mom dressed us impeccably in matching nautical sailor outfits....  I don't think my mom and I have anything in common... ;)

Going on an early morning run in 77degree weather. {I have a feeling this will not happen in Dallas for quite some time...}

Spending a weekend in Kansas City catching up with great friends!

Lounging by the pool catching up on magazines and my current book "The White Queen" by Phillippa Gregory. No care in the world.... {Or until Monday at least...}

Vintage Jewelry

So, you know I'm in Wichita but I don't know if I ever said why.  I am in town for a family reunion on my dad's side.  It starts tomorrow but my immediate family is trickling in today... {2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law, 2 nieces, 1 nephew}.  Last night my mom and I went through old boxes of my dad's parents things that we had acquired.  I hit the jackpot in box 2 when I found lots of vintage jewelry my Grandma used to wear!  There was also an old saddle bag I plan on adding to my bag collection....

Unfortunately we decided that as siblings we would go through a line and pick what we want one by one.  There is a lot more jewelry than this, however my heart kind of dropped.  These were my favorite pieces, I especially want the long white drop necklace {I am fairly certain I would wear this almost everyday}, the pearl necklace and earring set, the necklace with the caged tourmaline stone, and the pocket watch {which I would put on a long gold chain}.... oops... I bet that's not going to happen.  I can't wait to hear the stories behind each piece when my Aunt is here tomorrow!

I also acquired some of my mom's mom {my Granny's} pieces of vintage clothing while here.  I am postive if I took pictures and posted people would make fun of me so I am going to put together "What I Wore" posts for Fall so you can see my vision :)

I will keep you posted on what I get in the pickings!

What I Wore :: Lunch with a Friend

Dress :: Testament.  Necklace :: Anthropologie.  Clutch :: Elaine Turner.  Sunglasses :: Michael Kors.

I went to lunch today with my old friend Stephanie! It was great to see her since we haven't been able to catch up lately.  So this is what I wore to our lunch at Bella Luna Cafe {which was super yummy if you're in Wichita!}.  This is my favorite dress in the world right now... it's comfortable, easy, and incredibly easy to dress up or down.  Excuse the hair... I opted out of washing it today and it's not the best top knot I've ever done {I realized after the pictures were taken... Since my helpful dad took them I decided to go with bad hair instead of have him do it again...}.  But you get the idea!  This necklace is one of my favorites too.  I love that you can make it long like this or shorter, more of a bib necklace to give it different looks!

TGIFFFF!!!

Thrifty Thursday!

...Or so I am now calling it that.  My mom and I went today to look at these lamps she had found in a thrift store.  I am almost embarrassed to say that I am not a huge thrift store person aka hadn't really been to one short of looking for a costume until today. Not that I didn't like them, I have been to many home thrift stores but never for clothing. Buffalo Exchange on Greenville {Dallas} is the closest I've come but the prices did NOT compare to today.  I am now a BELIEVER! My mom left with nothing... I left with 2 lamps {sans shades} and 2 pairs of shoes.  Guess what my total was? Go ahead... guess.  Nope you're wrong!! It was $9.95!! I know!! So I am addicted {because I needed another fashion addiction...}.  I can't wait to hit up the ones in Dallas, I can only imagine I won't be disappointed.

These brogue cuties were $.99!!! They are Liz Claiborne and suede and leather.  Seriously I saw them and died ... I feel a "What I Wore" Post brewing...

I am going to live in these little leather loafers this fall! With jeans, a tee, and blazer it's a perfect go anywhere outfit.  They are SO comfortable too... and they were like $2.00. I am obsessed! I may or may not be wearing them right now...

After I get shades for the lamps I will post about them too! What an exciting thrift store day.... I can't wait to do it again!!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall....

.... who has the smallest bathroom of them all?  What? Are you shocked by that? Since I have repeatedly mentioned I live in a hamster box you shouldn't be.  Actually the bathroom is the one room in my apartment that I haven't been able to mask into looking much better than it is.  Anyway, I have been wistfully looking at pictures of gorgeous bathrooms online a lot lately.  Here are a few of my favorites...

I posted this little pretty on Pinterest {actually I repinned it} and after I did about 30 people repinned it! {It tells you... slightly annoyingly... every time someone repins something of yours}.  Anyway! I love windows in bathrooms to brighten it up... not to mention all over white is always clean and inviting! {as long as it's clean...}

I love the two different mirrors here! Plus candles and flowers anywhere in a house will get a thumbs up from me. I also love subway tile in a kitchen or bathroom, it instantly makes it look clean and inviting.

You remember her!! I am going to lay in that tube with my laptop someday...

I love the open storage cabinet. I feel as if it keeps you organized, neat, and tidy since everyone can see in it, but it's still practical.  I also heart that vanity although I'm not sure where this person is hiding their makeup/blow dryer/all of the tools to get ready.  It must be on the other side of the picture...

Again a the window, obviously love.  I also love the sinks and granite counter tops!

I really like this dresser.  I know I want a stand alone tub but I want mine to have vintage claw feet.

This vanity might suit me a little better.  More room for storage plus it looks like there is a tray with bath oils and perfumes on it... LOVE!!

I love the idea of a chaise in the bathroom if it's big enough.  Such a great place to lounge or have girlfriends over before a night out!

This is another from pinterest.  The tray is actually a picture frame! I love this idea and plan on stealing it probably multiple times!

Who wouldn't feel gorgeous getting ready in a girly, pretty bathroom such as these?!

Fall Shoe Obsession :: Heeled Loafers!

I am obsessing over the heeled loafer shoe trend for fall! They look so cute with a flirty silk dress, tailored pants, or even fall shorts if you're really daring! I have scoured the internet to find the best for ANY price point {really!}.  This is a fall shoe trend anyone can get behind, most have a chunkier heel so they are instantly easier on the feet for a work day or drinks with the girls. Depending on how you wear them they can vary from ultra preppy, seriously girly, perfectly ladylike, or uber edgy! So next time I see you I expect to see you in one of the following... {if you're in the Louboutins you probably don't want to talk to me or I will knock you over and steal your shoes... just a warning sign}.

Oooo la la! Of course Christian Louboutin managed to make a penny loafer the sexiest thing around {I also want to say I usually refrain from the word sexy... the word kind of makes me gag so if I say it you know I mean it.} Again, if you show up near me in these I will most likely tackle you and take your shoes {I have an older brother so don't underestimate my size or girliness....}.

I love this little cutey! It's so rich in dark brown and suede and would be PERFECT with light grey knee socks and a flirty floral dress.  If that scares you try them with a light grey sock and tailored or even skinny trousers.  It's a great little pop to add a fun vibe to your boring work outfit.

Do I have to say anything? Look at the price!!! I mean these have barely come out and they are $60?! I will own these in all 3 colors.  This mushroom {they call it cognac so I'm interested to see what it is in the store... it looks mushroom to me not cognac} would be perfect since it goes with blacks/browns/greys/anything!  They also come in a dark green {CUTE!} and dark brown.  What's better then looking like you payed $300 for your shoes and paying $60? Nothing!!

I LOVE the mixed media here! Colorful suede is another hot trend for Fall shoes and this is the perfect combination of them! Again... you can wear these with anything in your Fall wardrobe!

As you noticed most of these are just in a brown or cognac color.  I found a few in black and they all look cheap to me.  I like this trend MUCH better in a brown, grey, or a tan tone. Plus you can wear any of these with all over black if you want so why not? So take a cue from your pops {everyones dad has worn/wears penny loafers!} and sport this look this fall proudly {I will be..}!

Getaway Outfit Idea

I know I said I would post about my weekend but I forgot my camera cord {if you remember I am in Kansas now until Sunday} so I will post about my fabulous weekend when I get my cord back.  So for now I am in a ridiculous fashion lull, mostly because it's that annoying calm before the storm.  Some fall has hit stores but not a lot and it's not time to wear any of it, fashion week is just around the corner so everyones hibernating from the extreme heat or working like a mad man to finish their collections.

So to get my mind off of that I have put together an airplane outfit idea..  A possible trip to Vegas next week {it has been talked about for months... will happen eventually who knows when!}, and a trip to New York over my birthday weekend are both coming up.  I obviously choose the New York trip since it will be October and Fall appropriate!  Possible summer outfit idea if I get over my summer grumpiness anytime soon...

Happy August and Monday!!
