Festive Polish :: Happy 4th!

I have a problem.  I like to paint my nails 5 minutes before I leave my apartment, it will never change.  This morning I decided I need festive nail polish for drinks with the girls tonight, so I took off my bright pink and replaced it with the first coat of this.  Then, I went home for lunch and 5 minutes before leaving I did the 2nd coat and the gold flakes. Some say I have a problem, however I think I have a gift.  I can get my keys out of my bag, lock my door, start my car and get my work badge out of my bag for work with JUST painted nails... talent, that's what I have, a talent folks.

So I'm also not great at painting my nails and with as often as I do it you'd think I'd be a professional.  Well I have it all over my fingers for the first 24 hours but it always flecks off, but since there's no fleck off time here's the picture anyway... {leave your judgement on the side...}

So I used these... {OPI Malanga Wine & OPI Russian Navy. With Glitter Nail Lacquer from American Apparel in Meteor Shower} to get this...

Like I said, ignore the paint around the edges.  It comes off in like 2 - 3 hours!

Happy 4th of July!!

America!

Obsessing Over :: Nail Color

Oops... sorry for the uncreativity right now in my posts.  However, I am obsessing {I mean night, day, eating, sleeping} over my nail color.   Usually I don't give nail trends a second thought but for some reason it's consuming my mind.  After a couple failed attempts at the ring finger different color trend I have finally nailed {pun intended} down my favorite combo.  My nails look hideous right now so I will fix and take a picture later but my favorite thus far is a plum purple color with silver, pink, gold glitter on the ring finger.  As you all know my next adventure will be these. However I am also adding the below to my list of must try nail trends for the season... no wonder my nails are hideous! They are screaming for me to lay on some dark red polish and leave them alone again... sorry ladies... not happening til next October so let's get used to it.

I tried this one last week. You have to get the EXACT right pink for this to not look totally ridiculous.  I used a bright pink usually only used on my toes when I'm feeling sassy and on my 5 year old nieces nails when I go over to babysit.  That is not the right kind.  After searching I could not find the origin of this picture or what the color is, if you know please let me know!

I love this coral pink color but I am not a huge fan of matte nail polish.  It makes me feel like I stuck my nails in clay so I would probably just go for it and do a shiny pale coral with the silver stripes... how on earth do you get them that straight?

I may have to splurge for this Deborah Lippmann gold glitter.  I haven't been able to find one so perfectly thin but with big flecks of gold.  This could be used on so many of the current trends it might be worth it.

Let's go back to my inability to have my nails be this crazy... I love this but I would probably just do one MAYBE two of my fingers in this chevron.  Again, I am going to learn to do this on my own.  I will... just wait.

What nail trends are you drooling over right now?

IKat Inspired Nails

I didn't think I would catch the fever of doing anything on my nails except for dark purple, brown, and red... but I did.  I ventured out recently into a lighter purple polish with my ring finger nail being a sparkly pink, silver, and gold color and I kind of love it.  I think maybe my next step are these ikat nails...

Dare I say this may be next?? Of course it would be insane to think I would be doing this with a brush.  This picture is from a few months ago in Lucky Magazine.  They suggest using NCLA's nail wraps.   Unfortunately this color is sold out.  Hmm... I will keep you posted on how I achieve this look.

Maybe this combo of it would be easier?

This picture is from Refinery 29's instaveiw page.  The darker colors I think I could handle for day to day.  Nothing annoys me more than my nails clashing with my outfit, which is mostly why I stick with dark colors.

Nail Polish Obsessions

Ok, so anyone that knows me knows that I HATE not having my nails painted.  Usually a really dark red color, sometimes I spice it up with dark purple or even lately dark brown! {I know... whoa...}.  My friends this weekend even joked about in college how I would paint my nails right before we left to hit the town {Aggieville being the town}, well things haven't changed!  Because of this obsession with always having my nails painted {not to mention not wanting to pay a lady to do it for me once a week} I have found the BEST nail polish for a busy lady on the run like me.  Now don't get me wrong, sometimes I love sitting down and giving myself a good old fashioned mani/pedi. However, when I don't have time for that I use....... THIS....

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in Cinna-snap.  I really like 2 things about this... it dries REALLY fast {FYI I painted my nails right before starting this post and they are basically dry... and I'm a fast typer.}. Second thing I like about it, IT'S DARK RED!  Most "fast" drying nail colors were obviously made for a 5 year old girl with no patience, aka bright pink, neon green... you get my drift, well I'm a 26 year old girl with no patience.  This is really the only color they make that doesn't fit under 5 year old category.  Complaint number 2: It chips in no less then 24 hours.  But, who cares? It's my in between real nail polish manicure which is usually just a few days anyway!

I mentioned before I am going to Las Vegas for work on Sunday night, I am toying around with the idea of doing something I saw on a CUTE girl working at Kate Spade.  I drilled her the whole time I was checking out on how to do it.  It was a medium purple color on all nails with gold/pinkish glitter only on the pointer and pinky finger {some how she had a very light even glitter coat}.  We shall see if I have the guts to leave with this or if I stash a bottle of Cinna-snap so I can change my mind mid-flight....

Stay tuned!
